The maths comes first. The AI comes second.
Most AI astrology asks a language model to guess where the planets were. We don’t. A deterministic engine computes your chart from astronomical data, and Hey Kundli is only allowed to explain what it found.
What happens in those two seconds
- 1 · Correct the clockLocal time to universal timeYour birthplace’s historical offset is looked up for that exact date, including India’s war time in 1942–45. Born in Bombay before 1955 or Calcutta before 1948? You can tell us which clock your birth record used.
- 2 · Place the planetsSwiss EphemerisPositions of the 9 grahas from the Swiss Ephemeris’s built-in Moshier theory, an analytical model fitted to NASA JPL data, then shifted to the sidereal zodiac with Lahiri ayanamsa.
- 3 · Derive everything elseClassical rules, in codeLagna, whole-sign houses, D1 to D60, nakshatras, ashtakavarga bindus and Vimshottari dasha dates down to sookshma, all rule-based.
- 4 · ExplainHey Kundli reads the factsThe AI receives the computed chart as fixed facts and writes the explanation, citing which placement and rule each claim comes from.

What Hey Kundli is allowed to do
Does
- Explain the computed chart in plain Hindi, English or Hinglish
- Show the placement and classical rule behind every claim
- Say when scholars disagree, and show both views
- Tell you which parts of your chart depend on an uncertain birth time
- Keep a private notebook of what you’ve told her, which you can read, edit and delete
- Set astrology aside when someone is in distress
Never
- Calculate planet positions or dasha dates itself
- Change the facts between two answers
- Predict death, divorce or “doomed” matches
- Sell gemstones, pujas or fear

Fair questions
Why Lahiri ayanamsa?
It is the standard adopted for Indian national calendars and the most common choice among Jyotish practitioners, so your chart will match what most astrologers use.
Why does my birth time matter so much?
The lagna moves about one sign every two hours, and the Moon about 13 degrees a day. A small error can change your houses and shift dasha dates by months. We show how much margin your lagna has.
What if I don’t know my birth time?
We cast the chart at noon and tell you exactly what depends on the time. Your lagna and houses can’t be trusted then. Your Moon sign often holds all day, and when the Moon changed sign that day, we say so instead of guessing.
My birth was recorded on an old city clock. Does that matter?
It can. Bombay kept its own time (UTC+4:51) until 1955 and Calcutta until 1948 (UTC+5:53:20). When your date and place fall in those years, the birth form asks which clock your record used, and the engine uses that offset.
Can the AI be wrong?
The numbers can’t drift, because the AI never computes them. Interpretation is still interpretation, which is why every claim shows its reasoning for you to judge.
How do you test the engine?
Against the sky, not just against itself: known eclipses (January 2000 lunar, August 2017 solar), published Sankranti timings and planetary ingresses, and the Lahiri value at 2000.0. Five reference charts (India, the US and Australia, from 1943 to 2000) are frozen as golden files, so any drift in any number fails our builds.
